While scam phone calls have slightly decreased in the last three years, scam texts have tripled. A consumer report found that phone companies need to do more to prevent robocalls and texts for customers. CBS News correspondent Nancy Chen has more.

And people wonder why my generation (Millennials) and younger don't answer our phones much anymore.
Aside from just phone fatigue and notification overload, it's also like playing Minesweeper with phone scams nowadays.

Landline scammers target vulnerable seniors. There should be a *## sequence that landline users can call to flag the previous call as a robocall / scammer.
@TheWHIGJr
Also phone companies: “gah it$ terrible there$ no ID check$ for thi$ life altering corn”
@TheWHIGJr
And decrease profits?!
@cesarsalgadosalgado2199
Oxygen OS , android and Apple Should permanently restrict and ban apps who claim they stop robocalls, texts and yet they want u to pay over 20$ to 50$ subscription per month to stop robocalls and texts
@gemgal711
Voip scam calls are rampant. I'v reported 130 voip scam calls since April of this year and 110 of those are from a carrier sinch voice.
@silvermica
I'm so tired of that nonsense. My phone is bombarded with dozens of SPAM text messages every day. The only reason I keep my cell phone is for factor 2 authentication.
@homemini9254
They can and they won’t.
@MatteBlack2024
Completely agreed. My mom is nearly 90 and I’ve spent DAYS trying to work with the phone company and state’s attorney to reduce call volume. They get especially bad this time of year. Why are the Feds dragging their feet? If Silicon Valley had a profit incentive, something would’ve existed 20 years ago and we’d now have the 21st edition!
@user-cy9mc2ky1c
They could do more but just don’t care
@johnphantom
They make money every phone call. It ain't gonna stop till there is legislation, and the telcos could easily cut the scammers off if they wanted to – they collect money from them, after all.
