Kemi Badenoch and Robert Jenrick will contest the Conservative Party leadership after James Cleverly was surprisingly knocked out of the race.
Mr Cleverly was the frontrunner on Tuesday, having won yesterday’s round of voting.
But he bagged just 37 votes on Wednesday, behind Ms Badenoch, who received the backing of 42 MPs, and Robert Jenrick, who got 41 votes.

They forgot to cover one thing in this report – who cares?
@derekedgley5074
Robert Jenrick has admitted that he and a junior minister approved payments to towns in each other’s constituencies from a government fund earmarked for deprived areas.
The communities secretary confirmed that communities minister Jake Berry gave the go-ahead for Jenrick’s Newark constituency to be selected for a £25m fund award even though it was 270th on the list of the UK’s most deprived areas.
Jenrick said he signed off the decision for money to be allocated to Darwen, a town in Berry’s Rossendale and Darwen constituency.
On Sunday, Jenrick insisted there was a “robust and fair” methodology behind the government’s towns fund and dismissed as “completely baseless” allegations that he had any involvement in Newark’s selection. Totally untrustworthy this candidate
@peterbradshaw8018
Proud to be Tory with a black woman in the running

Kemi need to win! Vote kemi.
@jaybee4288
Can’t even trust the nasty Tory MPs to vote for their favourite candidate. They’ve always got to be screwing someone over or taking a bribe or doing something dodgy.
@TrevorEden
What a poor lot
@dianamincher6479
Uniting the party through using skulduggary and cheating! Same old Conservative game plan!
@FranzBieberkopf
Starmer and especially Davey will be going round with broad grins-the loony right have taken over.
Any Conservative voter who isn't a fan of Reform Mark 2 will be heading for the Lib Dems and (to a lesser extent) Labour.
Today we can officially state the Conservatives have lost the 2028 or 2029 election
@nikkihamilton4374
Nigerians need not apply!
@erikaclose5998
Not interested in Tories,they liars just like labour.
@azza2473

@Ace-ls3uo
Am so glad I am emigrating this country is becoming a joke.
@Goodqualityvideosatareasonable
who cares about conservatives, we all know they are insignificant – reform is the new opposition.
@nicbordeaux
The membership as far as I can make out, is fundamentally xenophobic, or at the very least of the " when did we vote to go multicultural, Sid ? " faction. Badenoch has a little skin pigmentation which will push them to vote for the other candidate. Just my perception, obviously.
@mhump205
Why isnt the general election not done like this?
@DavidGetling
Cleverly lost because his supporters didn't vote honestly, for the candidate they favoured. They thought he was so secure that they could be disreputable and make "tactical votes". But it has given most of us a really good laugh.
@shahedali02
Whoever likes Israel more, wins!
@larsjorgan7964
Baldrick versus Badenough. What next? indeed!
@elennapointer701
Every time the Tories have a leadership election the MPs always, without exception, present the Tory party membership with the worst candidates possible. Johnson was the "electoral asset", Truss was about "growth", Sunak was about "integrity in office" and yet all of them were the polar opposite of the slogans. I expect nothing but more of the same from whichever malicious clown they choose this time.
@adamfull3181
Nigel for pm
@shamrockshamus
"snakes" and "foreigners". Badenoch is not truly British -> https://youtu.be/Irj84aTozOk?si=P3SdPn-nK5nx4hPk
@theenigmaticgamer
This lot are utterly stupid! So ironic that their guy is called Cleverly 😂🤣. Whoever wins is completely irrelevant. The Tories are screwed, Labour are screwed and so it’s down to Reform to pick up the pieces 😂
@tommyhughes2264
Badenough and Jenthick, not good is it.
@DaveJohn9568
Tories will be out for a decade
@hot655-u5c
lol with this leadership we’ll probably somehow get 10 years of Labour instead of 5.
@Cherrytune386
Bad enoch or Baldrick
@Cherrytune386
😂😂😂😂😂😂 How rubbish are the tories, may they be irrelevant for at least a decade.
@juliechristie277
I think clevery would be a very good pm seems only one with brains how the hell has kemi beat him.wtf
@John-ql7ng
Kemi all the way please.
@Whalewraith
Kind of crazy, with such a narrow range of votes, it seems to me all 3 should have been put to the membership.
@muhammadomer4674
I hope the black bird doesnt win. As her fake accent is so annoying. No offence to any black person
@jab-gn3sw
WEF tart should be thrown out of politics
@stevenlaput9496

@user-cu5gc4qz8p
It really is a depressing contest when the only positive is that at least one of them knows what a woman is
@HammerHealedCD
'Right wing' zzzzz. Jenrick was an avid Remainer.Fake news at it's best.
@Brommear
I doubt it. At least now the Tories will stand FOR something.
@Silver-st2zq
😆😂🤣
@MsCharlieBrown78
Is anyone ever going to ask Jenrick why he is receiving donations from Israel?
@MySteaming
This is so bloody funny.
Cleverly supporters believed that he was so far ahead in the Leadership Race that they voted for Jenryck in todays ballot to get rid of Badenoch.
This allowed Badenoch to come up on 'the blind side' & knock Cleverly out. 😂
@citizendefence5323
not surprised cleverly is out, conservatives could not organize anything, even after 14 years and then being dumped they cant stick to the plan, no worse than the idiots in government now.
@RalphdontGAF
Why vote Conservative knowing they elected their leader like this? Cleverly should be in the final run off.
@monkeyboy8424
Jimmy Dimly's campaign was doomed the moment loser Can't Shapps became involved.
@GerryT.
Id like to see a journalist ask Jenrick why he thinks people call him Honest Bob.
