Photography is also discouraged as the wee beasties are famously socially anxious.

One of the most interesting features of Loch Ness, from a scientist's perspective, is that its shape causes sonar signals to rebound and magnify, rendering them almost useless without accounting for that effect in signal processing. One team a few years ago found a massive signal, and were very excited until they realised that it was magnified, and what looked like a giant monster across the loch on their screens, was actually a duck twelve feet away. 😂
I won't say there's nothing there, but it'll be hard to be certain either way without accounting for that effect.
