for Jake Gyllenhaal and Jamie Lee Curtis, it was all about sourdough bread and handstands.

the two actors reminisced about their time together during the Covid-19 lockdown, sharing with People that Gyllenhaal, who is Curtis’s godson, and his partner Jeanne Cadieu, lived adjacent to Curtis’s home. Curtis, who captured the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress at the 2023 Academy Awards, has a long-standing friendship with Gyllenhaal’s parents, director Stephen Gyllenhaal and screenwriter Naomi Foner.

“We’ve just gotten to know each other,” Lee stated during the premiere of Gyllenhaal’s latest thriller “The Covenant.” “He also stayed with me during the pandemic for nearly a year. He and Jeanne were in the house next door to mine. So that was a thing for a while.”

Lee revealed that like many people, Gyllenhaal took up baking during the lockdown and would entertain their small circle with acting, singing, and even handstands.

“He baked a ton of sourdough bread, a lot,” Lee recounted. “So we had singing, acting, and sourdough. He even tried that challenge where you do a handstand against the wall, take your shirt off, and put it back on.”

Gyllenhaal confirmed that he has continued his bread-baking hobby.

“I’m still eating sourdough,” he said. “Yes. I haven’t stopped. Even though the pandemic is over, I’m still making sourdough.”

Gyllenhaal’s new film is a military thriller directed by Guy Ritchie, featuring co-stars Alexander Ludwig, Antony Starr, Bobby Schofield, and Jonny Lee Miller.
