I have not cried as hard as I did, in a very long time, when she said that she wore a hat as well so her friend wouldn’t be the only one wearing them. I just lost it. I will be that friend to someone I hope.

Our uniform code prevented us from wearing hats (covers) in doors but during one of our female coworkers cancer journeys we were all authorized to wear our covers indoors. Our leadership hung a sign on the door stating covers were authorized (and encouraged) in this building by the Commanding Officer of our higher Echelon. This prevented anyone from coming in and telling us to uncover in the building. Many were able to catch onto why and it was a beautiful display of sister/brotherhood.
