Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump pledged on Friday to conduct mass deportations of Haitian immigrants from the Ohio city of Springfield, even though the majority of them are in the United States legally. The city for days has found itself at the center of a social media maelstrom after right-wing agitators latched onto false claims that Haitian arrivals were eating household pets.

Im from Ohio this is fake news I made friends with the new Haitian arrivals and they are very warm and kind. Learning there hisotry its amazing how America never though us this in school. Largely through the efforts of one man: Toussaint L'Ouverture. No longer a slave himself, Toussaint nonetheless trained and led the half million African slaves of Haiti to victory after victory, over England and France, for more than a decade. In the process, he kept America free from European domination
