Thelin has so far brought in winger Jeppe Okkels on loan from Preston and spent £700,000 on Latvia captain Kristers Tobers, who plays for Grasshoppers in Switzerland.

A deal for Alexander Jensen has all but been agreed too, with the Pittodrie club ready to part with a further £650,000 for the Brommapojkarna utility man.

Thelin isn’t done yet though and with his side having suffered from a dramatic slump in form, he wants more fresh faces in the Granite City.

The latest name to be linked with a move to the north east is Spurs starlet Alfie Dorrington.

An England Under-19 international, Dorrington has been training with the first team on occasion under Ange Postecoglou and it’s believed he considers the Premiership a good place for the centre-back to continue his development.

The Daily Record reports that both clubs are in talks over a potential loan move in January, with Thelin eager to get cover in for the injured Jack Milne and Gavin Molloy.

Postecoglou said of Dorrington earlier this month: “Alfie is training with us and he has been around the first-team squad and part of the first-team squad.

“He had a pretty significant injury which kept him out of football for quite a while.

“But he is part of the squad and he probably needs to get some game time so we will look for a loan for him.”

Dorrington played youth football for Hadley Rangers and Cockfosters before joining the Spurs academy as he entered his teenage years.
