Sir Anthony Hopkins has posted for the first time since losing his home in the wildfires in Los Angeles.

The legendary actor’s house in the Pacific Palisades area of the city was reported as having been destroyed on January 10, one of thousands to have been claimed the blaze.

Starting last Tuesday, the LA Wildfires have resulted in 24 deaths so far, with over 100,000 people ordered to evacuate from their homes. Strong winds have meant authorities and emergency services have struggled to prevent it from spreading, with three fires still burning.

The Oscar-winning actor, who turned 87 on December 31, posted on Instagram with the following comments: “As we struggle to heal from the devastation of these fires, it’s important to remember the only thing we take with us is the love we give”.

Hopkins is one of many to have lost their homes in the fires. Billy Crystal and Paris Hilton both confirmed that their houses in the area had burned down, while actor James Woods broke down during a television interview describing his experiences. Mark Hamill was one of the first celebrities to confirm he had been evacuated. It was recently reported that the house Matthew Perry used to own, and died in, was spared from the flames.

A benefit concert, titled FireAid, has been announced to raise money for the victims of the wildfires, while singer Beyoncé has announced she will donate $2.5million to an ongoing relief fund. Charlie XCX has urged fashion brands gifting her clothing to instead donate to families affected by the destruction.

Hopkins was in the UK at the time of the fires. He recently revealed he was writing his autobiography, as well as planning a documentary on his life. He was also recently cast in the new Guy Ritchie film, titled Wife & Dog.
