They don't have to face the consequences, they are miles away from the action. Its always been the same ever since they over threw the Ukrainian president in 2014 and expected the ethnic Russians in the Donbass to live under the rabid Ukrainian Nationalists that they installed. They denied them all political representation, and tried to force them to abandon their ancestry, history, language and religion or give up their land and go back to Russia after inhabiting those lands for hundreds of years.

Ukraine is interested in saving its territory and people from Russia.

I am not very clever, but even I understand that Russia is in control of the escalation ladder – Russia can always hit way much harder , than Ukraine. UKR hits a building – RUS hits a city; UKR hits a fuel depot, RUS takes out 1/2 of Ukraines power generation…
It is like me, with $37 in my account, trying to outbid Musk… Except in UKR case, the escalation is paid in increasingly higher cost in human blood.
