Boeing workers in Washington and Oregon will be voting on Thursday night on whether to accept a new contract offer that increases wages by 25 percent over the next four years. If the deal is turned down, as has been predicted by union organisers, they will need a two-thirds majority to approve strike action. Also in this edition, we take a look at the plight of migrant workers in Singapore as Pope Francis calls for them to have a “fair wage” during his visit to the city-state.

Kelly Ortberg is spreading the blame for Boeing's current situation onto many of those whistle-blowers, the very factory workers he is addressing, who tried to prevent it. "For Boeing, it is no secret that our business is in a difficult period, in part due to OUR own mistakes in the past" Those who were most responsible the problems have walked away from the company with golden parachutes worth millions of dollars. Many of those who replaced them are frantically trying to pull the rip cord to inflate theirs before the the company implodes. The union leaders are also to blame. They should have told the workers to walk out and halt the production lines when they found out about the dangerous practices management was forcing upon the workers and inattention to the flying public's safety. I hope this company can eventually find it's way back to greatness.
