There was no ban on contraception. And she died because she did have an abortion. She took the pills and they made her sick and the 9 week babies body parts were stuck inside her. She should have stayed in the state she got the pills in and the doctor that she got the pills from is at fault.

I oppose of abortion laws in general, especially banning abortions before the second trimester, however Amber Thurman had already had a chemical abortion. Georgia House Bill 481 doesn't restrict any uterine aspiration procedure in which abortion pills have already eliminated a pregnancy, so the point is moot and the hospital is liable for waiting any amount of time before emergency treatment was performed in her case. A lot of misinformation is being peddled for political purposes concerning this particular case. The fetus was already expired, so there couldn't be any legal restrictions to performing a dilation and curettage to remove the remains. No reasonable reading of House Bill 481 could lead one to believe the political narrative now being presented for partisan politics.

Pre existing health conditions can contribute to things when taking medications, having surgeries, etc. Not only talking abortions. Any kind of surgery or medical care. Or not telling doctors or hospitals your health history or being honest about it or what other meds you might take, prescription, not prescription whatever.. This is stuff that can cause anyone’s life.

Piedmont Henry is the only hospital in the county she lived in. Its over capacitated from a rapidly growing population and neighboring counties bring patients over to this hospital. So that makes it become “understaffed”. She was not getting an abortion at the hospital. The fetuses were already dead. There is no BAN on women getting care for complications .
Didn’t an article say she waited days and passed out at home before she went to the hospital? This woman passed away two years ago. Where was Harris caring about this two years ago? Oh politicizing it. Convenient. It was in the news 2 yrs ago. Where was Harris, and Oprah?

When I did my bioethics dissertation, almost 30 years ago, on postmortem prenatal ventilation, I had a hard time getting an advisor because they said that I was "being hysterical", that there was no way what I was saying would happen, could happen. It's the law now in most red states. Female autonomy has been subjugated to fetal autonomy, and that is a very dangerous place for women in America to be.
