Be defensive by default.
Don't wait for confirmation they're doing it.
By the time you get it, they've already got everything.
Corporations don't care about you.
@daleleeroy
Just one more example of Capitalism gone too far!
@daleleeroy
What if I deactivate all automatic voice commands so nothing needs to listen for my voice? Isn’t it then reasonable to infer that I should have an expectation of privacy at that point? My phone shouldn’t listen to me unless I give it explicit permission to! THIS is what the law should be. Same for other forms of user tracking. Orrr, cut me in for some of the profit!
@wilkby
I was house sitting for my sister and brother in law. Their ice maker in the fridge was broken, so i had to fill ice cube trays and then while i was there i started getting ads for counter top ice makers because my phone was eavesdropping.
@joshuapowers4623

Cox owns my local Fox Affiliate in Boston (which once was owned by Fox stations' group), and after the owners changed they were alleged to "target" local news stories on their newscasts to audiences using the Nielsen's People Meter, in a town-by-town basis. 1) a local station that uses Nielsen isn't supposed know where the meters are based, and 2) this "targeting" with CMG is not a new thing if this is the case. Cox tends to play dirty.
@justaguy-69
the govt can listen to any phone or personal assistant or doorcam or security cam or nanny cam and watch you any time they want, especially if you have any google or microsoft associated with your device… been that way for years.

@paulnevins
7 years ago I discovered my Visio smart TV has a secret mic and camera that was uploading 4GB of video data every night.
@SunnyDiegoProduction

@AriesComet

@Grow-a-plant
These advertisers violated our trust so badly that it’s seriously our best option to boycott the entire advertising industry by not shopping at any corporations.
Sounds difficult but it isn’t. And life will keep going while they get left behind without anyone or anything to suck the life out of
@go_djentle
How does this not go against wiretapping laws???
@konigschwarz2565

Maybe they tackle the issue in the extended version? Or just more clucking? More Tweet reading?
@straighttoyou
The best part is, if they steal your ideas and make money, the government doesn't do anything. Other than grant them money
@jamesrawlins735

@au.ru.
Did anybody need a news outlet to confirm the obvious that everyone can notice? Come on people. Trust yourself!

@BurnaBwoi
Even if a device is listening, it should never be recording the entire time nor uploading that data to the internet if its not apart of a specific request like "Siri what's the weather in NYC today?"
@humiliated_by_auberle

@ThePlayerOfGames
They aren't "accused", they admitted it in a slide pack. And we know this works, mention words near your phone or type certain messages and you'll get targeted advertising.
@BrentRyley
What’s being taught in marketing courses? Does it include ethics? Same questions for lawyers coming out of are most lauded universities.
@SebastianTheGreat
I guess you could say that Cox Media has been probing millions of people without their permission
@mikerotch8375
Have proof of this. Was watching Barry (HBO) and they mentioned Dave and Busters power cards, I instantly got a "text" from a 5 digit number letting me know there is 50% off games at D&Bs that day. Took screenshots immediately.
Uninstalled the D&B app, haven't gotten any other "texts".
