Paris Jackson Celebrates 5 Years Sober From Alcohol, Heroin

Paris Jackson, the only daughter of the late Michael Jackson, is celebrating being “clean and sober” for five years.

on Tuesday, Jackson shared a post on Instagram to mark the empowering milestone.

Dubbing herself an “alcoholic and a heroin addict,” the singer-songwriter captioned her post, “Today marks 5 years clean & sober from all drugs and alcohol. To say that I’m thankful would be a poor euphemism. Gratitude hardly scratches the surface. It’s because I’m sober that I get to smile today.”

Alongside her caption, Jackson included a compilation of footage of herself drinking alcohol and smoking before finishing off the video by showing moments of her singing, playing with her dogs and hanging out with fiancé Justin Long amid her rehabilitation.

She continued in the caption, “I get to make music. I get to experience the joy of loving my dogs and cat.”

Jackson noted that since being sober she’s been able to take in all the emotions life has to offer, including grief, heartbreak and laughter.

“I feel the sun on my skin and it’s warm. I’ve found that life keeps happening regardless of whether I’m sober or not, but today I get to show up for it,” she said. “Here’s a little snapshot of what has been possible because of my sobriety, and my god I can’t believe I almost missed it all.”

At the end of her montage of clips, she shared a touching message to the people who aided her during her sobriety journey.

“To those that helped me on this journey, if only for just the beginning, middle or the whole time so far, you know who you are,” she added. “Thank you. 5 years. THANK GOD.”

Jackson’s 5-million-plus followers showered the “Eyelids” singer with support in the comments section of her post.

“So proud of you sis,” reality star Paris Hilton wrote.

Another person commented, “Congrats! Rooting for your continued success in sobriety.”

“Congratulations only a very strong woman has your courage! You are wonderful!” someone else added.
