North Korea’s latest propaganda song “Friendly Father” has proven to be an unexpected hit… on TikTok.
the pop-y propaganda has drawn praise from Gen Z users of the social media app, but experts say it hides something more sinister.
with lyrics including “Let’s sing Kim Jong Un, the great leader/ Let’s brag about Kim Jong Un, our friendly father”, the song is full of praise for North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un – who has vowed to “thoroughly annihilate the US” and has launched dozens of ballistic missiles.

The concept of "meming" hasn't yet reached the BBC.
@maidenshazza
I see no difference between this and the woke propaganda that the BBC shoves down people's throats every day. A case of the pot calling the kettle 'black'

It's called national anthem law played before TV start's and when TV shuts down NZ,USA,CCCP, RUSSIA,UK, CHINA have national anthem laws not just DPRK
@psych0Dad
I love it when the British media mocks regimes with a cult of personality. You're all aware that we were able to watch your queen's funeral, right ?
As a matter of fact, if you dub footage of Kim Jong Il's funeral with he BBC commentary of Lizzie's funeral, nothing feels out of place
@roriessav.r6723
I will be honeest, this is more enjoyable. South Korean Pop is disgusting.
@reanaa
So many posts saying Gen Z appreciates the irony. I'm more inclined to believe they simply do not know how horrific the Kim dynasty has been for the people of N. Korea. After all, 40% of them can't even name our VP.

oh come on…. we know that North Korea is a terrible place to live and no one crazy enough want to visit there. But this song is a banger, we're sick with SK-POP song that full of nonsensical beats, woman with plastic surgery, and autotunes.
@Gong_Chan
BBC must play this song every day in every BBC channel 🤣
@ths7478
This segment is so disinformative on so many levels. You clearly don't even know how the North Korean music industry works, nor how the country operates. Do some research on the country. Also, you all need to keep up with the times to understand Gen Z.
@点音源
I was surprised that the BBC in the UK would cover North Korean propaganda songs in the news😂It was reported in the news in Japan that this propaganda song was different from previous songs😅I am curious what meaning North Korea has given to this makeover

So the songs were created by people at the bottom and the government decides which song wins. Makes you wonder what happened to the musicians who wrote the songs which weren't picked…
