Woman found dead in Cavan home named locally as murder investigation launched

A woman in her 50s who was found dead at her home in Co Cavan following an assault has been named locally as Annie Heyneman.

A man in his 30s has been arrested after the body of Ms Heynemanin was discovered at the scene of a “serious incident” at the domestic residence in Co Cavan.

Gardaí have commenced a murder investigation.

The woman’s body was conveyed to Cavan General Hospital for post-mortem examination.

A man aged in his 60s was brought to Cavan General Hospital for treatment of serious injuries remains in a serious but stable condition.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who travelled in the area of KIlnavart between half eight and half nine on Saturday night to come forward if they have information or dash cam footage.

Brendan Smith, a local Fianna Fail TD, says the community is in complete shock.

“I know the community very well, it is my home parish, and everybody is shocked.

“The family are in our upper more prayers and thoughts.”
